Bhagavad Gita Chanting Competition @ GTA Vidhya Mandir, Neelankarai, Chennai

GTA Vidhya Mandir, Neelankarai, Chennai, hosted Bhagavad Gita Chanting Competition on 15 October 2015, conducted by Chinmaya Mission.

The students were divided into five categories.

More than 200 students participated from LKG to Std XII, from which there were forty-four winners.

GTA Vidhya Mandir wins Round Robin Interschool Cricket Tournament 2015-16

Boys of GTA Vidhya Mandir, Neelangarai, Chennai, made the school proud by winning the “Round Robin Interschool Cricket Tournament” in the Under-14 category, conducted by Tristar Cricket Academy.

Twelve schools participated in the contest and GTA Vidhya Mandir won the tournament by defeating St. Johns International Residential School, Poonamallee, Chennai, at Reddy Cricket Ground, Medavakkam, Chennai, last week.

Noel Aby Philip of Std. X was declared “Man of the Tournament” and Abhishek Pryan of Std. IX was declared “Man of the Match”.

The Management and Staff congratulate the students for their effort.

Navarathri Golu: Festival of Dolls in GTA Vidhya Mandir

Navarathri celebrations are in full swing at GTA Vidhya Mandir, Neelangarai, Chennai, from 12 October 2015 (Monday) and will go on till 22 October 2015 (Thursday), as both staff and students join hands to bring out the essence of the 9-day festival.

Golu, the artistic display of dolls, has been showcased in the campus. Dolls of various shapes, sizes and colors adorn the 13 steps that have been set up.

Various departments of the school take on the onus of performing puja and distributing prasadam on all the nine days of Navarathri.

Educational Institution Emergency Preparedness in GTA Vidhya Mandir

Disasters or accidents may take place anytime. As a precautionary method to make the school a safe zone, free from such incidents, around thirty teaching and non-teaching staff of GTA Vidhya Mandir, Neelangarai, Chennai, underwent a session on Strengthening Emergency Preparedness in Educational Institutions (SEPEI) 2015 done by Mr. Hari Balaji V R, National Consultant, Disaster Management.

They were told about things to be done during such emergencies and how to be prepared to manage any eventuality during an emergency situation without loss of life and time. The response mechanisms for accidents and natural disasters where also discussed at length.

As safety of the students is the top priority, it was decided that a Rapid Response Team (RRT) would be formed and continuous training given to the members of the RRT, to handle disaster situations like fire, earthquake, flood etc.

An Educational Institution Disaster Management Action plan was also compiled, thus making GTA Vidhya Mandir a safe zone for everyone.

A role play was also done to give the staff a feel of a real time situation.
