Maverick Artist Meghna impresses a Former President and a Nobel Laureate

Meghna Unnikrishnan, a Class V student of The Schram Academy School, Maduravoyal, Chennai, presented her painting Voice of Little Hearts to Former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi in New Delhi. It was a memorable moment for all of us.

Her painting will become the cover page for the book published by Propel Steps, which will tell stories of children from various strata of the society and the book will be published in 12 Indian languages and will be free for all kids.

The book will address issues related to problems of children from poverty, child labour, harassment, parental pressure, psychological problems, child trafficking, slavery etc.

Meghna has also won prizes in various painting competitions like:

  • Clint Memorial International Painting Competition organized by Kerala Tourism Department
  • UNESCO’s painting competition on Gender Equality in Education at Bangkok, Thailand
  • Rainbow International Children Art Contest 2014
  • 6th and 7th Green Bees Drawing Contest 2013 and 2014
  • Astrospace Drawing Competition 2014
  • Pidilite Chhota Bheem Send a Slogan contest
  • Chennai Government Museum Children’s Day Contest
  • 17th Annual Peace Pals International Art Exhibition 2014 (finalist)

Meghna is also good in academics and won a laptop in the International Spelling Bee Competition in 2013. She is a Bharathanatyam dancer and has performed on various stages in Chennai.
