The students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Sr. Sec. School, Virugambakam, Chennai, took an initiative to plant saplings in and around the vicinity of the school—Natesan Nagar—and nearby parks on 3 February 2017.

This was taken up to restore the greenery in Chennai after the destruction caused by ‘Varadha’ storm.

A rally was organised by the school, and the students carried placards and shouted slogans on the importance of tree plantation. The rally was flagged off by the Principal. Tree saplings were planted by the Correspondent, Principal, the Vice Principal, teachers, and students.

The students interacted with the public and the residents. As most of them were Chinmaya Vidyalaya parents too, they happily accepted to adopt the planted saplings and be a part in making Chennai a green city.
