The birth date of the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, 5 September 1888, has been celebrated as Teachers’ Day since 1962. On this day, teachers and students report to school as usual but regular classes and activities are replaced by exhibiting celebrations, exchanging thanks, and expressing remembrance.

Karuna Club of L. M. Dadha Sr. Sec. School, Choolaimedu, Chennai, organized competitions on Teachers Day 2018 for students in a different way…

…students applied Mehndi, Nail Art, Tattoos to all the teachers and non-teaching staff on the occasion.
…entertained the teachers by performing stand-up comedy, dances, etc.
…took interviews of their teachers.
…and a teacher performed a surprise Classical Dance, which was a big treat to the students and other colleagues and it was applauded by everyone!

The teachers thanked the Principal, Mrs. S Shoba, for her innovative idea of celebrating the event in a memorable way.

Furthermore, as a part of Teachers’ Day Celebrations, Karuna Club arranged a Guest Lecture for the teachers on 07.09.2018…

The programme started with the Karuna Prayer, after which the School Principal, Smt. S Shoba, welcomed the gathering and the guest.

Shri A. R. Shanthilal Nahar from Karuna International delivered the Guest Lecture before the staff audience.  He spoke about humour, and how teachers must conduct their duties. He also insisted teachers to always “be kind to themselves” so they can spread kindness to their family, friends, students, and others.

Teachers enjoyed the Guest Lecture immensely and thanked the Principal for arranging such a wonderful lecture.
