“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity”

The 16th Annual Athletic Meet of Kapol Vidyanidhi International School was held at Poinsur Gymkhana on November 13th, 14th, and 15th, 2019, for Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary section respectively, with great pomp and vigor.

The much-awaited event started on a pleasant day with great zeal and frolic. The event turned even more charged on the arrival of the eminent chief guest Mr. Rajesh Pandey, the international football player who was given a perfect guard of honor and welcomed by our very own rhythmic band of KVIS. The other dignitaries present to grace the occasions were Chairperson Mrs. Alka Vora and beloved Principal Dr. Mrs. Reshma Hegde. Trustees Mr. Hemant Bhai Sanghavi and Mr. Waman Bhai Parekh also graced the occasion.

The wonderful program began with the inspection of the troops by the dignitaries escorted by the School Sports Captain,  Head Boy and Head Girl. The council introduced the guest to the four vibrant houses and their captains and vice captains. The students entered the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administrated by the Sports Captain. The chief guest lit the Olympic Torch which was taken around by the sports stalwarts of KVIS who achieved great heights at the district, state as well as national level events. The impressive march past by the four houses were carried out with great precision coupled with stirring marching music by the band.

Madam Chairperson Mrs. Alka Vora in her speech congratulated Madam Principal and the students for bringing laurels for the school in various sports events. She also shared on the benefits of sports which leads to a balanced mental growth and it teaches children life skills like team efforts, leadership and confidence. She appreciated the display of all sections.

While addressing the gathering Madam Principal brought out the importance of sports and highlighted the benefits of outdoor games and condemned the usage of mobile phones and online games. Engaging the students in sports and physical activities should be encouraged by parents for maintaining the fitness and enthusiasm of students. Each and every student should be applauded for their participation in displays and athletic events as they have ingrained many social virtues to be emotionally strong by losing gracefully and the desire to work harder to win in the upcoming events.

The school’s outstanding sports performers were felicitated for their laurels in national-level and state-level achievements in Athletics, Karate, Swimming, Kabaddi, Kho–Kho, Chess, Shooting etc.

An energizing, equestrian display set the tone for the rest of the event. The students of Grade V displayed the Karate techniques which mesmerized the audience and their energetic performance was well appreciated. The Zumba display with colorful props was indeed a treat to everyone’s eyes. The flexible yoga asanas and dumbbells displayed by the students left everyone speechless.

Once the races began, the air was filled with the sounds of cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. The enthusiastic children took part in the relays, tug of war, 50 m, 80 m, 100 m, 200 m, and 400 m running races, shotput, and walkathon. The “Best March Past” Trophy was given to the boys troops of Yellow House, and “Best Contingent” Trophy was awarded to girls troop of Red House.

The “Best House” Trophy was awarded to Yellow House for their scintillating performance. Thus, the 16th Athletic Meet 2019-20 ended with great splendor, with cherishable memories for the winners, and determined spirit to rise higher for all participants.
