Distinct Parts of OUR BODY AGES at Various Times! – Part 1

The inevitability of getting older is something we all accept—but there’s more to it! The exact age when different body parts start to decline—the brain and lungs being the most alarming—has been revealed by leading clinicians.

BRAIN

Begins in a person’s 20s—with a decrease in the number of nerve cells “neurons”—that progressively continues as the person ages.

This number is around 100 billion at birth, but brain-ageing by 40 years of age results in a daily loss of up to 10,000 neurons!—affecting memory, co–ordination, and brain function.

LUNGS

Decrease in lung capacity begins in a person’s 20s—partly due to the stiffening of the muscles and the rib cage which control breathing—resulting in “breathless episodes” in their 40s.

SKINThe ageing process of the skin naturally begins in a person’s mid-20s. The skin—along with the brain and lungs—is one of the earliest organs of the body to exhibit symptoms of the ageing process!

BREASTS

Begins when women are in their mid–30s—the breasts reduce in size and fullness as a result of tissue and fat loss—and continues till 40 years of age, when the breasts start to sag noticeably.

There is, furthermore, considerable shrinking of the “areola”—the relatively pale-colored, circular area of skin surrounding the nipple—of each breast.

BONES

Begins in a person’s mid-30s—with loss in bone density which had otherwise been renewing itself completely once every two years, from childhood to the mid-20s…

…as the ‘bone turnover’ process—osteoclastic “removal” of old bone and osteoblastic “replacement” by new bones—retards.

MUSCLES

Begins in a person’s 30s—with the rate of muscle breakdown outpacing muscle build up, which is otherwise well-balanced in children—and continues gradually until 40 years of age…

…thereafter resulting in the progressive loss of 0.5 – 2 percent of muscle per year, which can be prevented only by regular exercise.

FERTILITY–STERILITY

Begins in a woman’s mid-30s—with the decrease in number and quality of eggs released from the ovaries—as a result of the lining of the womb getting progressively thinner…

…making it less likely for a fertilized egg to “impregnate” and, additionally, creating a hostile environment for the male sperm.

HAIR

Begins in a person’s 30s, with progressively faster rate of hair loss and greying of hair by the mid-30s. Normally, new hair from each follicle—a tiny pouch just under the skin’s surface where new hair is made—replaces dead, fallen hair, once every three years.

Greying of hair occurs in the later stages of life due to the progressive deterioration of the pigment melanin produced by “melanocytes” in the hair follicles when a person is young.

EYES

Eyesight begins to fail in a person’s 40s—the ability to see objects up close affected by long–sightedness—with spectacles usually being recommended for vision correction.

HEART

Begins in a person’s 40s—with the thickening of the coronary arteries “arteriosclerosis” by fat deposits through over-consumption of saturated fat—resulting in painful angina from insufficient blood supply to the heart.

As the body gets older—and the heart pumps blood progressively less efficiently—risk of heart attack is greater among males in their mid-40s and women in their mid-50s.
