When a child begins to read, starts looking into text material, the child will find everything to be overwhelming. They wouldn’t be able to recognize the words they see in the text, they would find it hard to decode them, then understand its meaning and also hence find difficulty in comprehending the meaning being conveyed in the text material.

You should only subject yourself to counsel from such people whom you lay your full trust upon. I know of a woman who stepped out of her home to work at the age of 55. Everyone was critical of her behavior but she still continues till today, after 10 years.

Gone are the days of marking and ranking in CBSE School. Now is the era of only grades and grading. I have read somewhere that there is a school (if I remember right – in Portugal) which offered families the option of having their children’s grades to be shown to parents, only on request or not at all.

First thing to do would be to change the requirements. Discuss with the teacher to put her on to a lower reading or math class group, run a one-to-one remedial session for her everyday on a consistent pattern or else to identify the specific skill needed to enhance the child’s ability to perform.

I happened to watch a talk show on television very recently. It was an eye opener to me on this particular issue – should working mothers really work at your job with an underlying pathos of guilt? I was shocked to notice that most women were expressing an overwhelming amount of guilt, being working women.
