This Pooja Holidays, we planned to use our Welcome Holidays from one of the major holiday resorts. After debating about the location & mode of transport, we narrowed down on Munnar in Kerala. Three families set out for this road trip. We hired a Tempo Traveler and started our trip on Oct 1st. All roadies from Bangalore on the Chennai Highway, make a halt at A2B near Krishnagiri. We were no exceptions. After a quick tea break, we continued our journey and the night halt was in Coimbatore. We went in search of the famous Hotel Annapoorna/Gowri Sankar as per one of our friend’s idea and the dinner was mouth relishing indeed. Next day morning (Oct 2nd)  we started the journey from Coimbatore to Munnar after a good breakfast (again at Gowri Sankar). Enroute, we made a brief halt at Amaravathi Dam after Udumalpet. Children enjoyed the Crocodile Farm and the water body. We reached Munnar for lunch. Children started enjoying the resort’s ambience and the weather aptly. The resort bore a renovated look and had gone through many changes since we visited in 2004.

On Oct 3rd, we decided to spend the day doing some sight-seeing. We started with a water fall and then to a flower garden followed by elephant ride, echo point and Mattupetti Dam. Kids had lot of fun and enjoyed the day. We returned to the resort by 6pm. Enjoyed the freshly made to order Fries in an open to air ambience. The adults gathered for a game of UNO and it was indeed a worth time pass.

We checked out on Oct 4th from the resort towards Bangalore. On the way, we made a brief halt at the Lokkam Water falls. This was another spot where the kids forgot everything and never wanted to come out of the water stream.

All of us felt that the trip ended pre-maturely and we should have spent 2 more days. However, we were also religious to celebrate Saraswathi Pooja and Vijayadasami and had to return home on Oct 4th. We reached home around mid-night with fresh and green memories. As I write this article, we have started to make our plans for our next tour. Any guesses on the place?? Expect update very soon here…
