Will it not be taxing for a student to do the foundation course during standards V to X, which is beyond the school syllabus? One can anyway start the IIT-JEE preparation from Std.XI. Then, why should a student undergo the foundation course? What is the necessity and importance of the foundation course?
Meant for only a bright student:
Foundation course is not meant for everyone. It is for the bright students who are comfortable with their school work (Above 80%) and are interested in learning Maths, Physics and Chemistry with more insight, perhaps with the aim to join IIT in the future.,etc.
Infact, necessary for a bright student:
In general, those who are already quite comfortable with the school syllabus can learn more and enhance their skills. The school syllabus is meant for the average and the talented students have great potential to learn much more. They should not be restricted in the process of learning and must be allowed to learn and explore more. .
In that sense, it can be said that it will be wastage of their talent, if not nurtured. In fact, the foundation course will have a great impact on the knowledge and aptitude of a bright student and will be the stepping stone for his/her success in the future.
Pleasure and not taxing:
A bright student takes lot of pleasure in learning the subjects of his/her liking. It’s also natural for such students to relish challenge and the foundation course keeps them engaged to bring the best in them. They will view the foundation course as an excellent opportunity to enhance their aptitude and knowledge. They also have sufficient time to work. For others, learning more may be taxing. But, for these students, that’s where their interest lies.
Enhancement of Conceptual Clarity and Problem Solving Skills
The foundation course will make the students acquire good level of conceptual clarity in the three subjects. It is very important to have such clarity as it forms the very basis of their knowledge. Application of the concepts through good level of problem solving is another important aspect of the learning process, which they will get acquainted with. These two form the remarkable difference between the ways of learning at school and at the foundation course.
Provides the right direction
Many talented students are without proper direction of learning and working. But, many parents are interested in giving their children the right direction of learning after identifying some talent in them. This foundation course will give the right direction and orientation of learning, and will be the necessary driving force for the students to work systematically.
