Pride of Tamilnadu – M. Parasuram of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam, Chennai

A glorious chapter in the history of Chinmaya Vidyalaya was etched, when the Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh took the Salute at an impressive Republic   Day parade held at Garrison Parade Ground Delhi. It was a moment of pride coupled with patriotic fervor as M. Parasuram of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virgumabakkam emerged as the best cadet in Junior Division Boys of Tamil Nadu, Pudducherry and Andaman and Nicobar NCC Directorate. He was one of the NCC Cadets representing 17 Directorates  who bagged the “The best cadet” award on the Republic  Day. He is a class IX student who enrolled in to NCC in 2010. Pulsating with high energy this young boy carved a niche for himself and Tamilnadu in the National Cadet Corporation map. The selection of the Best Cadet was based on the performance in Drill, Firing, Map Reading, Extempore round, GK and on personality test. Apart from excelling in the diverse training programmes since October 2010 along with his 6 other batch mates, he had successfully completed the Cadet training programme held. at various places in kancheepuram, Trichy and Avadi.

‘It could possibly stem from his sheer determination, stamina and ‘never-say-die’ attitude’ says II officer, Mr.P. Shivkumar, Associate NCC officer of the school Principal P. Vijalakshmi on the achievement-“It is a matter of pride for the school to produce such responsible and resourceful citizens capable of building a strong India’

The award comprises of a certificate, trophy, Gold medal and a sum of 5000/- The Tamilnadu government honoured him with a cash prize of 7000/-
