D. Antony selvaraj, MCTM Childambaram School, Chennai, With Governments trying to standardize education, is it necessary for schools to enforce study materials from private players claiming to offer extra assignments and additional resources?

I am a parent of Vth std student my suggestion is whethe xseed books is requrred for the sudents or is there any difficulty in using samcheer kalvi books or the materials in samacheer kalvi (The TamilNadu State Goverment Prescribed) books is not enough. Nowadays government is palnning to make the child school bag weightless . I feel by giving this books to the childrens and asking them to carry every time to the school it is very uneasy for the child and the child is over loaded with lot of assignment. Recently a survey is conducted in India about school childrens carrying overloaded scshool bags due to this the childrens been affected with spinal and backbone problems. Duty of a good school is to provide clean and neat environtment , new skills ,good teaching methodology and making every children to understand what they teach. My opinion is that the materials provided in the samacheer kalvi books more than enough for the childrens and in the book itself there are lot of activity is been provided and if the teacher is capable of training and teaching these activities is good enough. same time if the teacher likes to go much better he or she can take few of things from the xseed material. For this reason school must no insist and make compulsory to get xseed books because of this every parent is charged heavily in books and notebooks for thier childrens. If government puts an order to all schools to use only samacheer kalvi materials and no other materials will the management accept it and take steps. For U.K.G childrens you been charging a huge amount of money for books and note book materials i feel it is not worthable and value for money. I hope the management will take necessary steps to control carrying over loaded school bags.
