My husband is on a touring job and is away from home for 20 to 25 days a month. So we always plan holidays so that we get to spend quality time together. This summer holidays also we (me, my husband and our daughter) went for a 5 days holiday to yercaud and salem. It was really worth it because one it helped us spend uninterrupted time with each other and next it helped us unwind and relax.
We always make it a point to select places which are likely to be less crowded and also we never try to SEE all the places in the shortest possible time. Another point we keep in mind is to avoid the popular tourist places as they tend to be overcrowded and try to visit places of historical importance and old temples. Visiting historical places helps our child relate to things she is reading in her social studies book better and visiting temples gives her an insight into the rich culture of India.
This hoilday also we visited Tharamangalam Temple near Salem which has a three tired lotus with a moving stone ring in the middle and a carving of a lion on the wall with three moveable stone balls in its mouth. We were spellbound seeing these. Each temple has a history which is amazing and interesting.
So holidays if well planned can be great time for the family to bound.

I am mother of two children of 7 th and 12 th passed out. This summer has worked as a great period for us. We went to Goa for 8 days. The family bounding was so high and touchy, i feel it should happen again and again in day to day life.
Really very much happy for the fun, relaxation, hang out, food ….

Yes it helps in family bonding. As you mentioned a well noted point i.e. when we visit, the place should be less crowded.
