INVESTITURE
The Investiture Ceremony commenced with its usual pomp and splendour on Friday, the 8th of June. The eager prefects stood waiting for the ceremony to start. The regular Friday prayer, news, and “Thought for the day” were finished and the much awaited ceremony began with wishes from our dear Meena Aunty and our principal, Mrs. Amudha Lakshmi. The national and school flags were hoisted by Meena Aunty. The prefects with shaking legs and pounding hearts, marched up to Meena Aunty, saluted her, and received their badges with a drum roll in the background. They, then, took an oath, promising their devotion to the school and the position they occupied without any misuse of power. Our beloved Meena Aunty, once again, amazed us with her dedication towards the well-being of the school. She advised the prefects to make the most of the opportunity of being a part of the prefectorial body and blessed them. Next, our principal, Mrs. Amudha Lakshmi, spoke a few words. She put across to the newly crowned prefects how much responsibility they are shouldering and how they must never shirk their duties. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem.

Trip to Wayanad:
As the batch of 10th grade finished their exams and having tossed their books away, they hurried to the Chennai Central at their reporting time. It was quite startling how we didn’t feel the tectonic waves caused by the over- galvanized students of the 10th standard. They were finally reassured as the train began moving over the country side. In due course of time they entered god’s own country, Kerala which makes one feel serene in the mind and artless in the heart. It was a picturesque Sunday morning as they walked into the welcoming embrace of Kozhikode. From there it was a three hour journey by bus to halt at their destination, Wayanad. Shockingly, the journey by bus was very silent for a garrulous CV lot who simply gazed out of the window in awe. Nothing like enjoying the green landscape and the birth of the sun from the mountain’s womb and yes it’s all here in kerala . Soon after they headed for the Kuruvadweep Island, where they did the most electrifying thing, Rafting! After that they took a long walk amidst the exquisiteness of nature. The sound of the crickets, silent gossip of trees and most of all, they learnt to expect the unexpected and by that I mean there were monkeys as hosts each holding Lays chips (Masala Magic to be specific)
Their next stop was by yet another dazzling lake which was relatively keeping to itself, concealing its secret and inexplicable self from eager students.
They headed for the Soochipura Falls, a bravura creation of nature and it sure was a sight to behold. The cold water crashing from uphill on the rocks were soothing. As the cool breeze and fragrance of fresh water approached, they couldn’t help but stare at such a mind-boggling site. As they made their way back to the bus absorbing the visual treat nature had to offer, little did they know that wayanad had more and more to unveil from its kitty of surprises! Next it was Pookat Lake and needless to say, it was inconceivable. It flowed past them meeting the algae and the water lilies. The bonfire that night was a complete contrast to what they had experienced in the morning; it was an evening of vivacity and gambol.
The next day was less effervescent for it finally downed upon them that the excursion was coming to an end but nevertheless, they buckled their boots, belted their cargos and threw their ragged back packs across their shoulders and set out for the Edukkal Caves. Who expects breakfast in bed? The climb uphill was audacious as they didn’t have anything for support. The rocks were damp and glistened against the sunlight that peeked curiously through the canopy of trees and narrowed down. Upon reaching the top, they were in disbelief for the huge rocks soared into the heavens as far as they could see and the rocks were separated by a tiny gap through which a magic breeze swept past them.
A mild drizzle hit their faces’ as they reluctantly showed themselves to the train, while their heart recalled the staggering memories, their eyelids’ dropped into a satisfied sleep.
EDUCOMP IN CAMPUS
Education through computers………….in short EDUCOMP is a prestigious venture adopted by Chettinad Vidyashram. As many as 54 smart boards have been installed at a time. It was launched officially by our Meena Aunty on the 10th of June, 2012.
Educomp, post installation, provided week long training to the teachers from the 1st of June 2012. Teachers handling classes I to V, were exposed to this new technology. It was a very good opportunity for the teachers to learn about this productive accompaniment, which truly enhances the quality of teaching.
While the usage of conventional board is not arrested, the smart boards have many teacher friendly features:
- an indepth knowledge source
- ample scope to add extra information and share
- facilitating to make the routine board writing more interesting, colourful and attractive
- Abundant resources of varied assessment procedures like MCQ’s, questionnaires etc.
In all, Educomp smart boards have given much impetus to our teachers, resulting in a race for a better usage of the resources provided.

It is very good news at CV for introducing latest technology in Education. Congradulating for this. Hope it is analysed by expert team before introducing. As noticed from the picture provided in this article, the first two rows childrens are sitting very near to the board / monitor… this may lead to health hazard. Thanks to take necessary analysis results & views for introducing latest technology.
