There are many singers but only few singers have style suitable to light music.

TMS can sing any type of song.  Let it be pure Karnatic, song with Hindustani flavor, folk, comedy, love song, tragedy, bhakthi, philosophical and country like song.  TMS can bring out emotion of any kind.

TMS is embodiment of pronunciation and mind you, his mother tongue is not Tamil .

Listen to the following song Yerikaraiyinmale from the movie of 1957, music by the great K V Mahadevan.

The scale is E and the pallavi starts at higher octave & TMS touches note B in higher octave effortlessly. A song in the mould of Cliff Richard. Yaar Andha Nilavu! It is in D major. What sophistication! One & only TMS – The King.

Other selected songs of TMS:

I have given only few samples of the legend.   I am proud that TMS is from my home town Madurai.

Answer for last week’s Quiz: Salil Chowdhury.

Quiz for this week: Who is the guru of the genius Madurai T N Seshagopalan?
