Each book has its own feel no matter what the genre is. But most of the readers all across the globe have chosen crime and murder as their favorite genre. So I would like to write this review about a book of crime. This book is one of the bestsellers written by the world’s most famous crime novelist: Agatha Christie. ABC Murders consists of crimes suddenly starting to spring up in the country. The murderer alphabetically chooses his victims by their names and the places they live.
When Scotland Yard is baffled, Hercule Poirot can alone find the answer to this major mystery. Hercule Poirot, a retired Belgian Detective whose crime solving instincts are most unique is one of Christie’s famous fictional characters. He is considered as the next Sherlock Holmes among the readers. People read the Poirot books with great joy as it brings a thrill inside one’s bones. In ABC Murders, Poirot sets along with his close friend Captain Hastings and Chief Inspector Japp of Scotland Yard to stop this serial killer. Or is he a serial killer?
Three murders in alphabetical order: Ascher in Androver, Betty Barnard in Bexhill and Sir Charles Clarke in Churston are all terrible murders, and in each murder, the ABC Railway guide is left open next to the body at the crime scene. The killer also sends letters signed ABC to Scotland Yard challenging them to stop him. These letters are sent before each murder taunting them about his next murder. Hercule Poirot with his wit and wisdom saves an innocent man from being accused of murder and brings to light the true identity of the killer. And so brings justice to those frightful happenings in the country.
In all the crimes that happen all around in the world both in reality and fiction, there are only three basic motives for murder: Greed, Love and Revenge. This particular killer’s motive appears to be greed. For his comfort and fortune, he takes the life of innocent people. But he ends up paying the price.
Hercule Poirot had done it again. Truth alone triumphs. This is one of the morals we get from reading this book. Agatha Christie, also known as Queen of Crime, has done it again. Her works are eternal. This book has an unexpected surprise ending and a twist, which will definitely kindle the readers’ love for murder mysteries. For this reason, this book is a great one suitable for mystery loving readers.
